The Youth Drop In Center
Anyira Teenage Rescue Foundation intends to set up a youth friendly drop-in center in Gulu city. The center will have elements like; a youth friendly clinic, Information and games corners. This will enable these young people make Reproductive Health consultations, get treatment and health talks on SBCC (Social and Behavior Change Communication).
At the Youth drop-in Center, we shall have periodic conferences, condom pick-ups, games, peer and sex education, and care for the pregnant teens through delivery and immediate post-natal period.
General objective
To improve access to sexual reproductive health (SRH)services for teenagers, provision of basic emergency obstetric care and means of livelihood for the teenage mothers.
Our goal is to achieve the vision as follows:
- To improve access to SRH information targeting the young people at schools and other social places of congregation.
- To develop a one stop center for the young people to access youth friendly SRH services such as SRH education & information, family planning, treatment and prevention of for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and youth friendly recreational services such as games.
- To provide affordable maternal and new-born health services to the vulnerable teenage mother through partnership with the nearest government health facilities.
- To equip the young mother with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills; and financial literacy. Working closely with enterprises that can employ them or market their products will generate income to improve their livelihood.
- Provide basic needs for the disadvantaged vulnerable young mother at the time of delivery and immediate postpartum period.
- Collaborate with health facilities to access the young mothers and their partners and family, develop quality improvement projects that aim at reducing teenage pregnancy rates and increasing access to family planning in the region.
