Why ATRUF
Anyira Teenage Rescue Foundation was founded with a goal of reducing teenage pregnancy rates and improving access to affordable maternal, new born and adolescent health services for the vulnerable teenagers.
There is therefore an urgent need to create an adolescent friendly one stop center to provide SRH services together with empowering teenage mothers to make healthy decisions regarding their reproductive lives to better their quality of life.
mission
Anyira Teenage Rescue Foundation (ATRUF) gives the teenage girl access to sexual reproductive health(SRH) services to prevent early pregnancy and its complications, provides them with basic maternal health needs and enterprenueral skills.
vision
To have a generation of productive young peaople to steer the economic development of the Acholi Subregion and a human resource base for the nation.
General objective
To improve access to sexual reproductive health (SRH)services for teenagers, provision of basic emergency obstetric care and means of livelihood for the teenage mothers.
Specific Objectives:
- To improve access to SRH information targeting the young people at schools and other social places of congregation.
- To develop a one stop center for the young people to access youth friendly SRH services such as SRH education & information, family planning, treatment and prevention of for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and youth friendly recreational services such as games.
- To provide affordable maternal and newborn health services to the young mother through partnership with the nearest government health facility.
- To equip the young mother with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills; and financial literacy. Working closely with enterprises that can employ them or market their products will generate income to improve their livelihood.
- Provide basic needs for the disadvantaged vulnerable teenage mothers at the time of delivery and immediate postpartum period.

Ronald is a Humanitarian and Peace advocate who has dedicated most of his time to fighting for Social Justice and Development of his community. Ronald toured sunny California and encouraged individuals to embrace their global citizenship, leading to action on several political and humanitarian issues regarding the then LRA conflict affecting northern Uganda and D.R. Congo.
He co-founded Backup Uganda, an Organization that works to identify and provide connective solutions to children with learning disabilities like Dyslexia, ADHD etc
Ronald also founded Kope Foundation, a fund to support numerous projects in Pader and Agago Districts, aimed at generating income and creating Jobs for the youth and women.
Ronald Okello founded Anyira Teenage Rescue Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation in Uganda; with a goal to promote Sexual Reproductive Health Rights for the Adolescents and young people to breed a generation of self-aware teenagers for better life choices.

BAIFA ARWINYO is a Reproductive Maternal, Newborn and Adolescent Health expert with over 14 years of experience in clinical work and health system strengthening. She is also an awardee for Regional Maternal Health during the Heros in Health (HIHA) awards 2022.
Currently serving as A Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital and coordinating the Local Maternity and Newborn Systems for Acholi Subregion. Coordinating maternal and newborn health service delivery and building synergies among various stakeholders defines her function.

Denis Owiny is a Global Politics and Security Professional specializing in geopolitical analysis and development, particularly focusing on African security, peace-building, democratic governance, and development. With a background in government relations, legislative procedures, policy analysis, and teaching, he has served in the Parliament of Uganda as an Assistant Editor of Hansard, where he edited and produced the official report of the legislature from 2014 to 2022, and as an English Language teacher at St Joseph’s College Layibi for two years. He is a strategic communicator with experience in providing research support and managing communications at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., and the Uganda National Academy of Sciences.
Throughout his career, Mr. Owiny has focused on leading teams, fostering innovation, and taking calculated risks. While at Parliament, Denis was appointed to the Department of Official Report’s budget committee, where he transformed the department’s budgeting and procurement processes, streamlining allocation, execution, and accountability that fostered equity and efficiency. While teaching at St Joseph’s College Layibi from 2012 to 2014, he mentored the next generation of leaders as the patron of the Uganda National Student’s Association and the Debating Club.
His career highlights include editing official reports, providing protocol services and government relations at the Parliament of Uganda, managing social media and strategic communications, and conducting policy research at CSIS and UNAS. With a passion for climate change advocacy and dedication to global issues, he attended COP28 in Dubai and has a strong background in leadership, team collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. Known for his visionary leadership, commitment to innovation, and dedication to education and mentoring, he is a versatile professional with a broad skill set and a deep commitment to positively impacting global politics and security.
Denis holds an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management from Uganda Management Institute, and a B.A. in Education (English and Literature) from Gulu University. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife and two daughters.

KABILA LAWRENCE is a lawyer working with Anyira Teenage Rescue Foundation and doubles as a legal officer with Free Child Uganda, having experience in Juvenile Justice and Human Rights law.
Kabila is passionate about justice and uses his legal experience to give juveniles access to legal representation and Diversion programs.
By focussing on Juvenile justice, Kabila has been able to put his legal knowledge and skills earned from Makerere University and the Law Development Centre to good use. Although he spends hours in office, the thought of helping a teenager get access to justice is what keeps him going.
When he is not at work, Kabila is an avid cook, enjoys spending time around children, and watching Arsenal games.

He is an active member of Rotary International, where he engages in various initiatives aimed at improving his community. His passion for high-altitude hiking and running reflects his adventurous spirit and commitment to personal fitness. Currently, Ben is pursuing a Master’s degree in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria, recognizing the importance of adaptive leadership in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. In his free time, Ben enjoys networking and fostering meaningful relationships. He is dedicated to volunteering and supporting vulnerable and needy groups within his community, often leveraging modest resources and innovative ideas inspired by his faith. An avid reader, he is currently delving into “The 48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene. He is also a runner and a high altitude hiker Guided by the principles of the Four-Way Test in Rotary and the Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12, Ben Olwol strives to make a positive impact in both his professional and personal life.
